A delegation visit of 19 European cluster organisations from 10 EU countries took place in the U.S. from the 15th to the 19th of May 2017, including bilateral matchmaking opportunities, visits of U.S. clusters and Research and Innovation (R&I) stakeholders, as well as a cooperation seminar and roundtable. The mission aimed at opening research and innovation collaboration opportunities for European clusters and their members and was jointly organised by BILAT USA 4.0 and the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) under the coordination of inno TSD.
The participants presented their activities and the R&I stakeholders they represent in more than 90 bilateral/cluster to cluster (C2C) meetings during a matchmaking event with 13 U.S. counterparts in Washington, DC. The full-week event was highly appreciated by the participants who visited as much as 20 cluster-like organisations in Philadelphia (PA), Boston and Cambridge (MA). A number of partnerships with the U.S. counterparts could be envisaged and some of the cluster participants could already schedule meetings for some of their members (SMEs, research institutes) with U.S. collaboration partners.
The delegation visit was comprised of EU cluster organisations in the fields of nanotechnologies, advanced materials and manufacturing, energy and sustainability, electronics and biotech seeking cooperation with clusters and the stakeholders of the R&I ecosystem in the United States.
